Akuffo Addo’s Harsh Words To The Aflao Chief

The president of Ghana, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo has asked Togbui Adzovnu -Gaga  Amenya Fiti V who the Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area to “complete” the abandoned E-block community day senior high school in his area by himself if he is perturbed and angry about the delay or the abandonment of the project.  Torgbui Adzonu-Gaga Amenya Fiti V gave on Wednesday 20th , the paramount Chief gave government a four-month ultimatum to complete the construction of the school project. The building was built under the administration of the former president John Dramani Mahama, it is a 26unit classroom block,this project falls under many other projects been abandoned by the current Akuffo Addo administration. Medikal arrested by police for brandishing gun

Ghanaian rapper, Samuel Adu Frimpong, aka Medikal, has been arrested for brandishing a gun in a video on social media. Medikal was with his wife, Fella Makafui, at the Accra Regional Police Command charge office. He was brought to the station by police and is currently in police custody. This comes a few hours after dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, and four other people were remanded into police custody following an alleged gun attack that turned out to be a hoax. They were remanded by an Accra Circuit Court on Thursday, October 21, 2021, during their first appearance in court. Shatta Wale was picked up by the police for spreading false news about an assassination attempt at his residence in Accra on October 19, 2021.

Government Payroll Is Full Venture Into Entrepreneurship Ken Ofori Attah Tells UPSA Graduates

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has informed the University of Professional Studies-Accra (UPSA) 2021 graduating class that the government’s payroll is full, making it unsustainable to continue adding to the public sector’s employment figures, necessitating the need to create their own jobs. According to him, the duty of government is to build the necessary enabling environment, promote micro-stability, and guarantee that citizens have the necessary skillset – and that is exactly what the government intends to do: focus on the youth and budget for their needs. “At this point, the most important issue for you in terms of jobs is the future, and we’ve gone through a period where most people hunt for work in government or state institutions; nevertheless, those payrolls are full.” I can tell you that because we spend around 60% of our revenue on remunerating 650,000 employees, which is unsustainable,” he remarked. The Deputy Minority Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim has hinted that voting on the Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values 2021, popularly known as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill will be done in the open. The Banda legislator speaking on Adom FM’s Burning Issues on Wednesday said leaders at the Minority side have had conversations with members including their party hierarchy and have agreed on those terms. Radio Gold Is Back, NCA restores license for Radio Gold XYZ.

The newly inaugurated governing board of the National Communications Authority ( NCA ), under the chairmanship of  Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu , has approved new radio licence applications by  Radio Gold , Radio XYZ and over a 100 others. This was disclosed to  Asaase Radio  by multiple sources at the NCA and confirmed by a senior source at the Ministry of Communications and Digitisation. The Akufo-Addo government took obvious steps from 2017 to enforce the rules and regulations of the NCA. Radio Gold and Radio XYZ, two stations that are largely aligned to the opposition  National Democratic Congress  (NDC), were closed alongside many others that had refused for years to pay their operating licence fees and had flouted other obligations in line with their licences. The Counsel for the Nana Afua Nketia Obuo II, Paramount Queen-mother of Okuapeman, Kwaku Ansa-Asare has called out President Akufo-Addo for his comment during a courtesy call on embattled Okuapehene.   The Central Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended Mr Kwesi Dawood, the Regional Communications Officer for alleged misconduct following the incestuous accusations been labeled against him. Mr Dawood has been accused of incest with his daughter. The incestuous act resulted in a pregnancy which was later terminated. Mr Kojo Quansah, the Regional Secretary of the NDC, confirmed the suspension in an interview with the media in Assin-Fosu on Monday. Nkyinkyim is an art Installation/monument at Nuhalenya – Ada which is made of a wall-like structure which bears relief sculptures as well as sculptures in- the -round (out- door theatre) that tells stories of our Ghanaian/African ancestors. This project is to redefine African slavery through arts. since the beginning of the project in 2010, there has  been many installations sculpting of hundreds of faces to represent the men and women who fell victim to slavery. The sculptures are dedicated to the African  ancestral slaves that lost their lives through drowning in the lakes , rivers Atlantic Ocean etc.  Kwame Akoto Bamfo is the sculptor undertaking this project as a way of redefining African history through arts. Next time you think of going for a tour think Nkyinkyim.

Ebola Hits Dr Congo again

  Jean-Jacques Mbungani, health minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), confirmed late Friday a new case of Ebola virus disease in the northeastern part of the country. The “new resurgence of Ebola virus” took place in the Beni health zone in DRC’s northeastern North-Kivu province, Mbungani said in a statement. According to the official, the patient is a three-year-old boy who died on Oct. 6. “The sample was tested positive for Ebola.” The minister said that response activities have been underway. In early May 2021, the DRC officially declared the end of the 12th Ebola outbreak, three months after its resurgence in the North-Kivu province. Since the outbreak declared on Feb. 7, 2021, a total of 12 cases had been reported, including 6 deaths in the province. The recent resurgence was genetically linked to the 2018-2020 epidemic in the northeastern part of the country, in which 3,470 people were infected and 2,287 were killed. UTAG Asks It’s Members To Resume Their Suspended Strike.

  The University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has asked its members to resume their suspended strike on Friday, October 8, 2021, over poor conditions of service. This was contained in a communique issued to its members on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. According to the said communique, the decision was arrived at on Friday, October 1, 2021. UTAG insists that the decision has become necessary because negotiations with the government are in stalemate a month after it suspended the earlier strike. “Following the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with the Employer to complete the negotiations on the Conditions of Service of University Teachers within one (1) month by resolving all outstanding issues, which formed the basis for suspending the strike, it is sad to report that the one-month moratorium has elapsed and the negotiation has almost reached a stalemate.” UTAG also added that “Unfortunately, within the one-month moratorium, the Employer never shifted its position even t...

Fight breaks out at NPP Delegates Conference in Bono East Region

  A brawl broke out at the New Patriotic Patriotic Party’s (NPP) delegates conference in the Bono East Region on Wednesday. The incident saw persons believed to be bodyguards of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Atebubu Amanteng, Edward Ofori clash with the party’s internal security. The supporters who accompanied the MCE to the venue claim they were denied entry into Atebubu Training College’s assembly hall, where the event was being held.  The party’s security had insisted that only the MCE would be granted access because of his capacity as a delegate.. But it did not go down well with Mr Ofori’s supporters. However, the misunderstanding degenerated into a fight between the MCE’s bodyguards and NPP’s internal security personnel. A fisticuff ensued as slaps and blows were the MCE’s men, numbering about eight, were being prevented from accessing the hall. It took the intervention of the police and military to restore calm. 3 People Including 2 KNUST Student Die In An Explosion At The Juaben Mills

  Three people have been reported dead including two student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in an explosion that occurred at the Juaben oil mills in the Ashanti Region. Nine persons sustained injuries during the incident, but four of them whose conditions were critical were sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Three of them were pronounced dead on Wednesday morning. The deceased KNUST students were on an industrial attachment at the mills. The Juaben District Police Commander, DSP Broni Honnu confirmed the incident to  Citi News . “The bodies have been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Two students of the KNUST were involved [in the incident]. They were both on an industrial attachment.”
